ASTRID makes its US festival debut at the MIAMI INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL, within the September edition of the Short Narrative and Docs official section. The winner of this edition will go up against the other winners from each month to compete in the semi-final, which will take place in January 2017. The semi-final winners will then go on to compete in the final, to be held in August 2017.
2nd September
ASTRID is selected for the 49th SITGES International Fantastic Film Festival in the Nova Autoría SGAE section. ASTRID will be competing in three award categories: Best Director, Best Script and Best Soundtrack. ASTRID was selected to represent the Barcelona-based film school, El Plató de Cinema.
17th August
ASTRID is selected for the IV edition of the Parma International Music Film Festival. The film will be shown on Friday, 23rd September at the Casa della Musica.
15th August
ASTRID is selected for the FINGAL Film Festival in Dublin, Ireland. The film will be shown on Sunday, 2nd October at the Pavilions Centre in Swords, Dublin.
26th July
ASTRID selected in the Official Selection of the International Fantastic Film Festival Cinefantasy in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The film will be shown on 10th September as part of the "España Macabra" session, in which the 7 best Spanish short horror films will be shown.
13th June
ASTRID selected in the International Fantastic Film Festival, SANT CUGAT FANTASTIC. The festival will take place from 7th-10th July and all films in the official selection will be shown at the Cinesa cinema in Sant Cugat, Barcelona.

ASTRID wins the award for Best Short Film in the Film School Section at the XVIII Barcelona International Short and Animation Film Festival, MECAL. The prize consists of the sound and image post-production for Luigi's next short film.

ASTRID selected for the XVIII Barcelona International Short and Animation Film Festival, MECAL, in the Film School competitive section. ASTRID, written and directed by Luigi Abanto Varese, will represent the Barcelona-based film school, El Plató de Cinema.

Barcelona-based film school, El Plató de Cinema, will present the short film ASTRID at the Filmax Gran Via 2 Cinemas in Barcelona. The short is a production by Plató de Cinema and New Citizen Productions.

DEPENDENT LIVES takes home First Prize for Documentary Photography in the competition organised by photography magazine 7.7. The prize consists of a grant to attend a workshop in Vienna, Austria, given by 2011 World Press Photo winner, the South African Jodi Bieber.

The photo THE BOY'S SHADOW, part of the INSTANTES series, is awarded First Prize by documentary photography magazine Ojo de Pez and Nissan, at the I Photo Meeting Barcelona 2010. The prize was disputed between six finalists, chosen weekly from among 5200 photos from around the globe.

The photo THE BOY'S SHADOW, part of the INSTANTES series, is selected winner in the third week of the documentary photography contest organised by the magazine Ojo de Pez. As such, the photo will take place in the grand final of the first Photo Meeting, to be held from 15th -17th July at the Virreina Palace in Barcelona. The winner will be announced on 17th July.
